Personal
Geographies:
Mapping Your Life Humans have making maps for thousands of years: it is an urge some of us can't resist. Using collage, illustration, journaling, paint, paper and other mixed media, we will create "maps" of our life experience. These maps of the imagination can record our journeys of the past, future, backyards, hopes, dreams, and mythological places. Exploring memories, our physical sense of self, personal history and place, we will make many kinds of maps both traditional and abstract, and a case to contain our "atlas." We will discuss the history of cartography with its characters, criminals, cultural bias and fads, and then proceed to play a part in that very history.
