One Stencil on the Gelli 2

Yesterday I printed all day with the Stones Divided Stencil which comes in 6″ and 12″ squares. I bought mine at Blue Twig Studio, where I will be teaching in September. I used the larger one on my large Gelli Plate. Working with one stencil is freeing, because I am only making decisions about color and technique. I can print fast and furious, which believe me I did. My studio was draped in paper prints. I used deli paper and Arches Text Wove. Here are some of the samples out of the fifty or so prints I made. I am making paper packs to sell at vendors at Art Unraveled next week. I...

Map Art Stencils hop and Giveaway!

Today is the first day of 6 chances to win my new Map Art Stencils! I have been using them in classes for the last two months in Australia and New Zealand, and the students did wonders! The official name of the stencils is:  Artistcellar Signature Series Map Art by Jill K Berry. The individual stencil names, in case you were wondering are: 082 Angel Cartouche...

Too much eyeliner. The Infra stencil adds jazz to her skirt. He is a fairly benign chap, which is why their relationship does not last. Sad. I used the Quasi stencil here...

Gera, Miró, Bird, and Picasso

To celebrate my new stencils I did a spread in my journal for each of the stencils with the person who inspired them. Gera is an Ethiopian artist and doctor who made paintings of talismanic characters for his patients to heal, them using what he called “the secrets arts of heaven.” I found his work in the book Afrikan Alphabets.  and was instantly drawn drawn to the shapes and the context of his characters. This is another page of healing in my journal I did with the Gera Stencils.   Joan Miró and I have been friends for ages. I am inspired by the fact that his artistic...
