A Walk on the Beach
Posted on March 23, 2010 - Filed Under Being an Artist, What I am up to
I spent the morning doing a piece of art, and by noon I needed to throw it away. It was inauthentic and just plain yucky. Since I have so little time to do this sort of thing it is frustrating to junk the art I make. It was clear I needed to be doing something else, so I went to the beach. I found faces, continents, chairs, textures and breezes, and I watched that amazing tide rush straight back out to sea.
Came back all ready to roll, and willing not to force the river. Sometimes it is a walk on the beach that my muse needs. Now she is happy.

Amazing pictures, Jill…Oh how I wish to have been able to join you for that walk on the beach. The house you’re staying in is absolutely stunning. BTW, look for Julia at Artfest…she’s there with Marilyn (friend from TX).
Big wisdom there. We all need to fail to learn. Being authentic means trying things that need to be scrapped. I hate it when it happens, but it means you are digging harder at meaning making. And that’s a GOOD thing.
