Book Art Beauty

This week I received emails from two of the women in last week’s workshop in San Diego who had taken their books home and finished them. WOW! Jan and Noël, here you go, me showing you off big time.
I gave each participant a bunch of symbolic languages (some African, which you see here) work with, and pages of what I call “small poems and stories”. We painted a large page of symbols, then tore it up to make the first book. There ended up being two signatures of pages stitched into a wooden spine, that was then adorned with charms and beads. These two women did a fabulous job finding the stories that fit their books. Aren’t they fantastic?

this is the second book Jan made with her Symbolic language paper

This is one spread in Jan's Music Makers book.

See the rest of Jan’s book, and her creative and wonderful blog here.
Noël also sent me pics of her book, to which she added her own text.

You can see more of Noël’s art and book at her creative arty blog here.
I love to see how these books progress, since we don’t always have the time or inspiration at the end of a busy weekend to add text.
This class was energized. There are more pictures and stories, so stay tuned!

I couldn’t agree with you more….the colors are stunning, too! Beautiful books and I’ll have to check out their blogs as well.
Wow, what a treat to visit your blog and website. It is always so amazing to find someone with such talent–right under my nose! What beautiful things you create
Thanks again, Jill, for a great class. Your posting on Borrego Springs was interesting. I’ll have to wander down there one day for an “Artist’s Date.”
