Artunraveled 1

Carla Sonheim and I headed out on our trip to Artunraveled. We stopped in Santa Fe for lunch, and had fabulous food that I found on Tripadvisor. Los Potrillos was super was fab. I had Pechunga en salsa pi–a, chicken with pineapple sauce, Carla had chile relleños with beef, walnuts and raisins. I love finding great food in a dusty part of town in a converted Pizza  Hut, it proves you don’t have to be upper crust to deliver the best of the best.

The two of us yakked up a storm. Talk talk talk. We had met only briefly last year, so we had to fill each other in on all of life it seemed. It was fun and time just flew!  Suddenly we were in Albuquerque, and had enough energy to keep going. We were in my new Prius (2007 that I bought on ebay) and it is so comfy! We turned onto Hwy 40 and kept going toward Flagstaff, till I finally hit a wall and we pulled off in Gallup, New Mexico. Right off the freeway was a glowing pink hotel. Kismet, fate, call it what you will, but how can two girls resist a pink hotel?

El RanchoAside from the fact that it is pink, it is also wildly famous. Apparently everyone who counts has stayed at the El Rancho. Being in the middle of exactly nowhere does not seem to have been a problem. Once again it proves that if you offer with heart, despite the odds, they will come.

Artunraveled is in Phoenix, and our room looked over the golf course. Both Carla and I taught three classes, so our room was filled with supply boxes, and we were coming and going 24/7. Two of my classes were in rooms with funky light, but that did not stop us from making very cool cases and books. Thank you to all of you who showed up, and I am so sorry I don’t have photos for you here! If you read this and do, please let me know and I will post them.

The third class I had was Mapping. It is always such an amazing thing to watch this class, partly because it is so personal, so unique, and I know most of the attendees have never done anything like it. They are brave to take such a class, so that I know even before they show up.

Here are the maps:

Hey Erin, thanks for coming to the class and my blog! I showed my daughter your “road map” of adoption and she smiled, really big, and agrees.
Thank you for diving it, it really was wonderful to see.
