Somerset Studio: Begin

Posted on July 27, 2009 - Filed Under Publications I'm In

This month’s issue of Somerset Studio has four pages in it by moi. Here is a sample:

begin silk nThe article is about the word “BEGIN”. This is the “N” in one of the two projects I did for them.  It is always so flattering, so warming to be asked by Jenny Doh to write for them, and send them my art. I LOVE this. Here is the letter “I”.

begin silk iThe article is an invitation to begin a new project and to send it in to Somerset for an upcoming issue. Earlier this year I wrote another one of these challenge articles for Jenny, and convinced my guild to submit art. Every one who did got published! It was exciting to see my friends’ artwork in print, and really cool to be the one who shoved them to do it. One person already wrote to me to tell me that she bought canvases for her out-practice art friends and they are collaborating. Ain’t that grand? A few years ago I could not imagine this, yet here I am. You can be here too, just DIVE IN!

I am not going to reprint the article here, suffice it to say you have to head out and buy the mag. The rules and deadlines are in the magazine on page 25. Get thee to the store and challenge yourself! It also has an article by Tracie Lyn Huskcamp who has a new book coming out. Tracie and I will both be teaching at Artunraveled next week. There is still room in all three of my classes, so sign up now! It is going to be fun fun fun surrounded by monsoons and golfers.
