Trading Houses

Posted on July 19, 2009 - Filed Under Uncategorized

One of the huge benefits of being an artist is having artist friends: it is like having personal access to a rainbow. I look around my house, and feel so fortunate to know almost every person who created everything around me. One of my newest treasures is from fiber artist and friend, Mary Stanley. Mary teaches classes, so check out her website for a schedule. She sent me one of her wonderful hooked houses, I just love it.

Mary2MeToday I finally finished a house for her. Kept changing my mind on this one, I guess because I really want her to love it. It is copper, and hand-printed paper, and a photo from the “instant ancestors” collection, wire mesh and some buttons and parts of things. This gal has a story to tell! I wrote some of it in the copper roof. I love making these houses, and telling the stories of either people I actually know in my awake life, or those who show up in my dreams. Either way, I call them dream houses.

The natives are getting restless, time to away to motherhood duties. Just needed to take a moment to share the joy of trading. Oh yeah!
