Art and Soul VA

Last week was a whirlwind tour of buses, trains and planes, paints, paper and sumi. Whew! I taught for the first time at Art and Soul in Hampton, Virginia. Mary Ann picked me up at the airport and hit a drive-in she saw on the Food Network, then off to A&S.

The first class was Sumptuous Sumi, and I had the best women in my class. We made yummy papers all day, and I sure wish I had pictures, but the light in the room was so red and yellow they just did no justice at all to the beauty of the work they did. You will just have to imagine sumi, textures, and many gorgeous hues landing on pages all around you.

The 5 Books Class was rapid fire amazing, everyone did a great job and the feeling in the room was super party time! I just love the people who show up, it always surprises and humbles me to know that this gift just keeps on a’givin! Having people who have no idea who you are just show up on a gamble to take my class. Love that, yes I do.

I got to connect with some wonderful new people, and some equally wonderful OLD ones. Did I say that? I mean, people previously known to me. Susan and Don Madden were there, they gave me a fab little book with ceramic covers Don made, and painted pages by Susan. And, Susan lovingly shared that Don does naked yoga in the mornings, thank you, and her favorite pose is “Happy Baby”. Here is an example of an actual baby, not Don, doing this.

happy-babyThank you Susan, for sharing.

So I finally met Misty, and Kerin, and Jean, and Diana and many other people who emerged from being electronically transmitted to real humans. We have all these “friends’ on Facebook, don’t we? Nice to finally meet them!

Art and Soul is a hotel full of enthusiasm, a dining room full of stories, and classrooms full of talent and energy. I am glad to have been there, and impressed with the jobs that Glenny and Bee do to pull it off. Thanks to all of you who showed up! It was amazing.

I, too, am glad that you were there! I SO enjoyed my class with you; and look forward to further exploring the forms that you taught us. The first thing my mom wanted to know when I called her was: Well, did you really make FIVE books in one day? OH, yessss, dear mother — Five Fabulous Books (mayhap the class needs a name change?) It was great, you were greater! I hope to learn with you, again!

Looks like a wonderful time at Art & Soul. I’m looking forward to seeing you at RAEvN’s Nest but sooner would be better :) The village of little house books is wonderful!

    Hey Amazing One!

It was awesome meeting you although we didn’t have nearly enough time to chat.

Hey don’t I owe you a class?!?!? You better come claim it because the offer expires in about 10 years. If you don’t join the class before then it’s all over! hehehe
