Cathedral of a Woman’s Day
Posted on March 13, 2009 - Filed Under Creative Exercises
I painted this scene of a woman’s day, inspired by some Afrikan paintings of Wosene Kosrof, Poet’s Journal (this is the second book I have made in this series, the first one sold at the auction at Artunraveled last year). It is so satisfying to me to work this way, and ironically it makes many people really nervous. Not me! I paint the page, then cut it up. The pages will then be mounted inside a book that I will post when it is finished.
Here is my studio table this morning. I have been getting up at 5am each day to work. So much art, so little time!

Great colors on this one….I can completely relate to cutting up the pages. I remember that feeling well when taking your class down in Springfield.
“Okay everyone, now pick one of your pages and let’s break it up…get your scissors.” Are you SERIOUS!! I remember Julia telling me about cutting things up, but after the first shock of it and knowing what it may be in the end, it’s not that bad.
My favorite picture w/in this piece are the five people holding up the building…maybe it’s the Parthanon? HA!
“not that bad???” Wait till I make you cut your maps up. Just kidding. You get to keep those whole!
God I have to get my arse in gear for your class don’t I….what the heck will I pull together! I need to tell you what maps I want, too I think… homework will be done tomorrow teacher
