Fortunately, Unfortunately Jill
Posted on March 4, 2009 - Filed Under Creative Exercises

This weekend I am teaching Painted Pages and am busy getting ready when my little darling, Sydney, comes down with a cold. So, stop everything, heat up the soup, buy apple juice and cough drops, and get to playing Mexican Train. She wants to be right near me, so I am entertaining myself while she naps. On Facebook, which is a true confession, yes, I am on Facebook now, someone posted an idea for a game. You type in the word “Unfortunately” in front of your name, and see what Google comes up with. Here is what I got:
Unfortunately, Jill and I roleplay on Tuesday nights, so that doesn’t work well for us.
Unfortunately, Jill’s environment is one of fear and illusion.
Unfortunately, Jill heard Padma say the phrase no chefs wants to hear.
Unfortunately, Jill had some limitations on higher level systems.
Unfortunately, Jill ran out of money.
Unfortunately, Jill took Beastfoe with her when she left.
Unfortunately, Jill has already unloaded it for a nice profit, to a former child actor turned book dealer turned love interest.
Unfortunately, Jill’s paternal family did not embrace her.
Unfortunately, Jill’s family has moved out of state.
Unfortunately, Jill wasn’t blessed with a good temper or the virtue of patience.
Unfortunately, Jill was not able to attend the Niagara Falls Block Club Council.
Unfortunately, Jill is still looking after her Mother, but she is seeing the light at the end of the Tunnel and is looking forward to returning to Matilda Rose.
Unfortunately, Jill does not remember to do this very often, and will leave Jane.
Unfortunately, Jill, as a birth parent and not a sibling, doesn’t have the right combination of genetics.
Unfortunately, Jill didn’t get anything.
Whose says a day at home with a sick kid is wasted? Watch out for Facebook, really. It will suck you dry. Or, as we decided this weekend in class, it is MyFace.com. A rose by any other name would still swallow up your time. Back to list making and tea!

what a great page and what a shame I live so far away. That class would be right up my alley. So sorry to hear your little one is sick.We always had “rituals”when the virusses struck .I knew by heart what to install in the patients room;old books that suddenly were favorites for being read to,old fashioned cologne for wiping sweaty hands, lemon and canesugar syrup for the sore throat and favorite teddybear with a knit scarf because of being sick too.Somehow seeing the ritual installed, almost made them feel better instantly.Even being a student now and feeling utterly sorry for himself, the old ritual works wonders. As long as the bear stays out of sight of the visitors.I wish your little speedy recovery.
I love all the beautiful layers combined to make this piece!
This has to be one of my all time favorites of yours Jill…I so want to see this close up. Acrylics? Watercolor crayons? Here’s what I come up with on the Google game….this was AWESOME TO DO!!! And many are spot on!!! ….. and got your vmail today, sorry I missed you…my entire day was spent on the phone w/some work people.
Unfortunately, Jennifer will have to fill out the paperwork again and stand in line because we both have been removed from the electronic renewal system.
Unfortunately, Jennifer looks like she is stuck in a 1980’s time warp!
Unfortunately, Jennifer is not yet carrying any baby as of the moment.
Unfortunately, Jennifer Crusie seems to be another victim of the current publishing craze of having a new book on the shelves every few months.
Unfortunately, Jennifer is still recovering and she isn’t ready to play tennis yet.
Unfortunately Jennifer’s album isn’t out yet.
Jennifer,
This is actually what I do most of the time. It is watercolor crayons and acrylic with paste that I carved into and then wrote on the top with gold gouache. If you hurry, you can come to the class this weekend at Denver University. Actually, amazingly that class is full. 23 people coming to paint this weekend! It is my favorite thing..never gets old.
I am sorry about your lack of baby and the album. Maybe soon! :0)
Gold gouache???? What???? Why don’t I know of this amazing thing! You know, if I were up on two feet I may actually take you up on that class @ Denver University….seriously! Can’t wait to see what your attendees come up with, I’m sure it will be FABULOUS!!!
Hi Jill, I am happy to report that Obamangel has flown in for his first unofficial statevisit to the netherlands. He has taken up residence on my designwall, just above my computer.I just love it and I especially love how you used the text of the inaugural speach to bind it all together.
Thank you so much for the text to the music too.
I knew the music, and I knew I had learnt the text from our music teacher (waaaay back in time)but I just couldnt remember it properly anymore. It will now forever remind me of those exciting days.
Thank you so much.
Donata,
You are so welcome! I am glad he made it all the way there in good shape. Enjoy, and keep celebrating!
I love love love the page you have displayed with this post. Vibrant colors, letters floating, and then a house in the middle. Ahhhhh . . . .
