Shrining for Change

Posted on January 16, 2009 - Filed Under Uncategorized

My friend and fellow artist, Rebecca Brooks has the Shrine Auction underway. Click to link up to the amazing shrines that were donated to benefit the Street Kids of Oaxaca.

Here is the shrine I made. It is called Life Lessons.

My gal made some really bad choices in her previous incarnation. Against her parents wishes she married a cad, and led the life of a cad’s wife until he not so gently sent her off to her new place. She is happy there, for the first time. She has a chandelier with charms of the good life, and a book she has written to remind herself of the Life Lessons she learned. Against all odds she did manage to take a few things with her. Her jaunty hat and natty handbag, and her strands of pearls. The parental portrait reminds her of their infinite wisdom, and she sure as shootin’ dates no more cads.

Rebecca will auction my shrine and many others to help the kids in Oaxaca go to school. Shrining for change, that’s what we are up to here! So check it out and find an arty way to make a difference.
