Temple of Dreams

My dream life is amazing, epic, frequent and sometimes unsettling. I asked a therapist once about the difference between myself awake and asleep, as it seemed to me I was far more creative when sleeping. The source is the same I learned, it is the filter. In this book I illustrated a dream like sequence using symbols and glyphs from all over the world, then I wrote out the dream. It all fits into this small temple like book, which seems just the right place for it. I used Lumiere paints, the only and only glittery art piece I may ever do, and opaque colored pencils. It is all done on black Arches Cover, which I love because it is soft and does not crack. That was important in this box structure.
I really loved this process and hope to teach it next year somewhere along the road. Makin’ up those dreams was right fun I tell you, and made me feel really creative. Kind of like when I am asleep. Maybe I am.

Hi Jill, Happy Thanksgiving yesterday. Sounds like life has been “interesting” at your house this week. Sorry to hear about Sydney’s broken arm. I love your Temple Box of Dreams. It is so cool. I put marble feet and a small tassel on the temple box we made in class. I am in Sarasota now and will send you photos of the rest of my completed books. There is a small art supply shop here that sells the golden acrylic paint and they also ordered the Arches text wove paper for me. Was the paint we used in class the heavy acrylic ? And,just for the record, yes you are Very Creative.
