Estes Park

At the end of this month I will be teaching Talisman Books at the YMCA of the Rockies. It is one of my favorite places to go and to teach, because everything about it is conducive to art making. The facility is surrounded by the wild Rocky Mountains and sky the color in this photo. The elk are bugling now, and if you have not heard that, you need to. In pursuit of the ladies, the bull elk emit a whale-like sound, while acting like teenagers. Interesting combo. Anyway, it is beautiful there.

This program is run by the Craft Center, mostly DeeDee and Sarah, who could not be more arty or fun if they tried. Every time I have gone there the group has had a wonderful time. This time we will be making Talisman Books, which to me means small and treasured books. They will have beads, copper, leather, all sorts of embellishments and can contain small stories and poems or pictures that you want to honor. The cabins and rooms are cozy, and we tend to do communal meals, which add to the richness of the weekend. So, if you want to join us October 25-26 in Estes Park, click here.
