Raevn’s Nest Art Retreat

Posted on September 7, 2008 - Filed Under Uncategorized

Look what I found! A historical photo of a young artist in Cedarburg, Wisconsin who is clutching a journal just like the one from the class I am teaching! It is called In-Site Journaling and it involves lots of surface techniques and learning a bit about the town of Cedarburg. This is one of the classes I am teaching at a new event called Raevn’s Nest Art Retreat put on by my friend, fellow artist, and author, Kim Rae Nugent(her book, Interactive Art Workshop a book of movable artwork, is coming out next month and I am honored to be one of the contributing artists). The retreat is impressive but small, and will give us all a chance to bond in an arty way.

In-Site Journaling is one of my favorite ways of working. I love learning new ways of visually journaling while simultaneously learning about where I am, both physically and mentally, at a given moment in time. So, we will use vintage photos of Cedarburg, drawing, rubbings, maps and lots of other elements in this journal.

This gal knows where she is, doesn’t she?
