Books, Talismans, Torture and Acting

I am obsessive compulsive on the subject of book making. This last week I made about 15 books. Sometimes I start with the text, sometimes I start with a certain piece of paper; Folding is one of my inexplicable pleasures, painting papers is my passion.
What I did this week was small books full of wishes and dreams. I am calling them Talisman Books. They can be made to wear, to tuck into a hat, or wrap around the label of my scarf. They are fetching little things with good mojo Yesterday I made one to write in, small strips that contain small wishes and then wrap around the page to hide the written part. When I get my camera set up I will post them, but right now the camera table is covered with supplies I am organizing for two classes out of state.
Today was cleaning day at our house, which is sometimes akin to Chinese Water Torture Day, but today was an exception. It is a clear, blue day, the perfect one to be outside, but mean old me said “get thee to the pile on your floor, and NOW!” Miracles sometimes occur. It was like that here, they actually did get to the piles and now they have floors I can see.
My daughter is practicing for auditions at her school for a musical based on Alice in Wonderland. She can perform the entire thing by herself, changing from the Queen’s English at a shout to mild Alice who has no exotic accent at all. It is hilarious, watching her do this. And, she cleaned her room. I am going to fall faint at all this co-operation and wonderful talent. Maybe get a bit swoony. Then I will make a book.
