Tam has two sets of stencils. One is doodled words called “Inspiration Series” and the other is flowers, stars and hearts, row houses and butterflies. That one is called “Whimsy Series”.
I used some of each series in this project.
First I painted a 12″ paper mache star with black gesso.
Then I taped the stencil to the star and used Viva Color Ferro Special Effect Paste with a credit card to scrape over the stencil. This fab paste adds a gritty, sparkly, 3D quality to the project. This is a new discovery for me and I am really having fun with this stuff.
After stenciling the words, I stenciled stars. Then I used interference paints from Golden in each of the sections of the paper star. These scrumptious paints are made for black paper, add a fabulous shimmer, and change hues as you tilt the star. They remind me of the sharkskin suits guys wore in 1950s movies. Elvis must have worn one.
The next step was to outline the words in Sharpie Oil Paint marker and some dots for glitz.
I will be giving one set of each stencil pack to a lucky winner, so you have two chances!
Leave a comment for a chance to win. I will draw two names on 11/5, the last day of the hop.
See the rest of the blog rollers and leave them a comment for many more chances to win!
