Today is my turn on the Artsyville Washi Tape Blog Roll.
My mother’s birthday is coming up and we like to make things for each other. When Aimee sent me her washi tapes, I got out a box of mom-style goodies and sat on the floor of my studio arranging things.
Here is what I ended up with. It is a birthday booklet; bigger than a card, smaller than a book, full of stuff that reminded me of my mom.
On the first spread I made a list of the things I felt my mom had taught me, things I see in myself because of her.
I added a photo I like of me on some vintage looking scrapbook paper. I love the combo of these pages highlighted and framed by Aimee’s tape.
This is the second spread of pages. On the left is a layered vellum tattoo heart you can see through.
Here is a detail of the heart. Another vellum heart I made for my mom is HERE.
This is the third spread. I remade a vintage ad by changing the text block on the upper left. On the right I added a map to Paris, a city both of us love, which is layered over sheet music and topped with yet another heart.
The last spread is where I added lyrics on sheet music. I changed the lyrics to one of the bawdy songs my dear mother taught me. The page here uses a hinge made out of the washi tape, which I also used to strengthen and edge each page.
Leave a comment here about what you might tape up and I will put your name in a drawing for a set of all six of Aimee’s tapes!
