Artfest, Part 2

My second class at Artfest was Cartographic Reliquaries. This is a mixed media piece, a box of sorts, made from maps and postcards, and containing something important to the artist, that evokes a sense of place.

As you can see, many topics were covered: road trips, heart clinics, the Civil War, trout fishing, Kansas, Paris, on and on. I was enormously proud of the work that was done in this class, and really felt like it stood out at the Art show on Saturday. Thank you to all of you who came, it was such a pleasure.

One of the treasures of Artfest is the enduring friendships I have made there, which I am so grateful for.We bond there, we just do. I hear that a brave soul will be making her own retreat there, and details are to come. I hope that Fort Worden will once again be filled to the brim with artmakers, dreamers, and friends.

  1. Great pics of happy looking people! Makes me sad I wasn’t there.
