I love MT, SC, whatever you call him.

I have an unabashed love for Samuel Clemens, or Mark Twain, have since my youth. What he adds to my life, my journals, my experience, is cynicism, humor and intelligence. He is clever. He is damn funny, and so, so smart. I read his words and think, how did he string those particular words together, how did he light that up in my mind so quickly? I drew his face, which I have done a few times.

Wit is the sudden marriage of ideas which before their union
were not perceived to have any relation.
Mark Twain

Noise proves nothing.
Often a hen who has merely laid an egg cackles as if she laid an asteroid.
Mark Twain

Only one thing is impossible for God:
To find any sense in any copyright law on the planet.
Mark Twain

Haiku to Mr. Twain
I wish we could talk
Every morning at breakfast
the day would blast open

Go forth, enjoy the day. Soak it up and make it rich. I intend to. Then we can compare notes…..

  1. Jill, I just won your signed book Personal Geographies from Lisa E’s blog. I am so excited! I’d forgotten that I’d entered the contest.

As for Mark Twain, in a former job I traveled a lot to various small colleges around the country. One of the towns I went to was Hannibal, MO. I learned that it’s a tourist mecca due to MT/SC. There is a museum, of course, but also a nice little arts district. Sweet town.

Thanks for your donation of the book to Lisa’s contest. I am exited to be getting it.

    • Thanks Jan, and congratulations on the win! Would love to see Hannibal, maybe will someday. Love that MT!

  2. Wonderful drawing, and words.
